Apple Blossom Festival
May 1, 2010
This is becoming one of
our favorite contests. Not only because we received two checks again this year. But
the accessibility in and out is great, services are great and they give you
ample room to set up.

The festival has gotten bigger every year with lots of activities for the public. This year the Blue Angles were flying at the air show and they all came down Friday for some BBQ. Several of the pilots, excuse me Naval Aviators, were gracious enough to stop and pose for a few pictures. The girls were rather happy they came by too. Also down for the air show, Rick's brother in law few his F-16 down from Des Moines. We made him and his buddy honorary team members and gave them Smokers Purgatory shirts. They said they'd wear them in the jet on the way home. The Budweiser Clydesdales were also in town and a big draw at the annual parade.
Cooking was kind of mundane, with us finishing 35 out of 58 teams. A 131 score in brisket killed our overall score after finishing 8th and 9th in chicken and ribs. Something needs to be done with the brisket!
Next up The Great American BBQ in Kansas City.
